LOCATION
The Orlando Wheel is located in one of the world's most popular tourism destinations - Orlando, Florida. Adjacent to the Orlando - Orange County Convention Center, the Orlando Wheel is convenient to Interstate 4, SeaWorld and International Drive, Central Florida's main tourist corridor.
FAST FACTS
- Passengers can see as far as 25 miles in all directions from the top of the Orlando Wheel.
- At full capacity, the Orlando Wheel can carry 960 passengers per revolution, accommodating up to 40 passengers in each of 24 spacious flight capsules.
- Each fully enclosed flight capsule is larger than most living rooms and measures 37 x 25 feet, allowing guests to move about the glass cabins for stunning, 360-degree views of Central Florida.
- The Orlando Wheel travels at a continuous pace of nine inches per second, less than a leisurely stroll. At this speed, it takes 30 minutes for the wheel to make a full rotation, allowing passengers plenty of time to enjoy the unique and ever-changing perspective.
LARGER THAN LIFE DESIGN
- At a soaring height of 397 feet, the Orlando Wheel is the tallest attraction in Orlando, more than twice the size of Cinderella's Castle in the Magic Kingdom.
- Approximately 3,000 tons of steel will be used in the construction of the Orlando Wheel, about the same amount as used to produce 2,000 automobiles or trucks.
- The total weight of the wheel is 4,200 tons. That's two times heavier than the gross weight of the Space Shuttle Discovery and its engine components at time of liftoff.
- Each of the Orlando Wheel's inner spokes measures approximately 139 feet in length, four times longer than an average yellow school bus.
- At 370 tons, the wheel's spindle is more than two times heavier than a Boeing 747 Jumbo Jet. The spindle's diameter is equivalent to the width of the Lincoln Tunnel.
- It would take nine full-size, American SUVs to equal the weight of just one of the Orlando Wheel's innovative flight capsules.
